3D Generalist Sina Pahlevani resurrected Darth Sidious for his latest gallery entry. He discusses his workflow and inspirations...

3dtotal: Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?
Sina Pahlevani: I'm Sina Pahlevani and I was born in 1986 in Iran. I started art with drawing and oil painting when I was 15 years old. Years later I got my BA degree in graphic design and had different jobs in 3D architecture, animation and TV advertising. After a while I found my main interest in the gaming industry and decided to pursue it. I completed a number of projects in Tehran, Iran, and I am still following my interest in Tehran.

3dt: Where did you find the inspiration for your latest gallery entry? What's the story behind its creation?
SP: Generally speaking I think the emperor is a lovable character for most Star Wars fans. It was sad to have it die forever. So i decided to have him disappear instead, and he comes back in a different style with even more anger and will to revenge and cause total annihilation. So I brought him back in his mechanical throne with his unholy glory.

3dt: What software and plug-ins did you use to create this image? Did you face any difficulties, and how did you overcome them?
SP: I used ZBrush, KeyShot and Photoshop. I encountered almost no difficulty with the job. Actually the hardest part of every project is time management and prioritization.

3dt: Do you normally use this software in your workflow? What other software and plug-ins do you favor?
SP: Yes, I do. By the way; I use 3ds Max, V-Ray, MARI, Quixel Suite and 3D-Coat almost professionally. I like working with Substance Designer/Painter, and Topogun as well.

3dt: What are your artistic ambitions?
SP: I like sculpting with recycled material and wish to become an expert in it one day.

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?
SP: Among the traditional artists: Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, Michelangelo, Bernini, Kamal-ol-molk, Abolhassan Sadighi. And it's very difficult for me to select names among the large number of my favorite current artists.

3dt: What can we expect to see from you next?
SP: Currently I'm working on a realistic character and hope to compete in a new challenge.
