Arch-viz artist Saeed Joshan shares the inspiration behind his latest piece Hotel Agglo, plus more of his stylish portfolio...

3dtotal: Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?
Saeed Joshan: My name is Saeed Joshan and I was born in December 1981, and I'm currently living in Iran. I achieved my Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, and have since worked in CG, using Photoshop and 3ds Max. Since then I have also begun to teach – and of course I'm learning all the time.

3dt: Tell us the story behind your recent gallery entry: What inspired you to create it?
SJ: I have a passion for old architectural monuments and famous architects, and because of that I decided to recreate the Hotel Agglo, that was designed by Gardera D-Architectur.

3dt: Did you face any difficulties when creating this image, and how did you overcome them?
SJ: The hardest problem with this project has been the fact of not having the plan available to work within. But I did my best to guess and estimate the approximate dimensions. Another challenge within this project was dealing with the professional design of the exterior.

3dt: What software did you use and do you have any tips for using this software, or any other software that you use to create your art in general?
SJ: Within my projects I mostly use 3ds Max, V-Ray, Photoshop and Mudbox.

3dt: Would you consider yourself to have a particular signature style, or techniques that you use often?
SJ: Considering I use all of my experience and knowledge as an instructor of these softwares, my style could be my ability to recreate spaces and turn them into realistic images. Recently I have started to execute conceptual and abstract projects.

3dt: What are your artistic ambitions?
SJ: Improving my 3D art and making people interested in the digital domain, in the area of graphic and architecture, plus conceptual art.

3dt: What software would you like to learn in the future to expand your portfolio and skillset, and why?
SJ: Definitely I would like to improve and promote my skills in software such as ZBrush.

3dt: How do you keep your portfolio up-to-date? Any tips?
SJ: In regards to upgrading my skills, the first goal would be accessing to internet websites related to these software, and studying related professional books.

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?
SJ: My favorite artist is definitely Marek Denko. I've been familiar with his art for years now, and the style of his art made me interested in working with 3ds Max. His style caused me to change the direction of my professional life.
