3dtotal: Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?
Erick Buosi: Hi, my name is Erick Buosi. I'm from São Paulo, Brazil. I'm currently working in a post production studio based in São Paulo called Tribbo Post as a 3D artist, and have been there for about 4 years. I'm part of the look development team, working with light, texture, shader and fur, and in my spare time I really like modeling.

3dt: Tell us about your art: Your style, themes, genre, and some of the favorite projects you have worked on.
EB: I like everything that involves 3D. I find everything very challenging. Because I've been working in advertising for a few years, I always try to make my work as realistic as possible. Lately I'm really enjoying the cartoon style. I'm using this style a lot in my personal projects. I believe it gives more of a freedom of creation, playing with shapes. Every new movie released by the major industries (Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, Sony, among others) creates an excitement to do something better and better. This last project "Little dog dude” was what I like to work on. I was able to put into practice everything I've been studying, especially the fur.

3dt: Can you describe your typical workflow, and the software/hardware you normally use when creating your artwork?
EB: I work with ZBrush, Maya, Arnold, Substance, and Yeti. When I get the model (in the case of "Little dog dude” that was modeled by Alexandre Takeshi) the first step is to do good research, light references, and textures. I use Photoshop or Nuke for image composition.

3dt: What inspires you?
EB: Many things, they are everywhere, in photographs, other artists, my family, in movies that with each new release can do incredible things: all this motivates me a lot. It generates an excitement to start a new project or even to finish one which was stopped – it all helps me to improve.

3dt: How do you keep your portfolio up-to-date? Any tips?
EB: This year I'm more focused on doing the personal projects. I try to work at least 2 hours a day after my work hours – it's a good way to put everything into practice that I've been studying; trying new software, working in different styles, and working in my own time.

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?
EB: I have many favorite artists like Pedro Conti, Vitor Hugo, Rafael Grassetti, Gilberto Magno, Fausto De Martini, Kris Costa, and Marek Denko, among many others. I find their work amazing; the details of each project, the way they share and help other artists – they really are a source of motivation for me.

3dt: What can we expect to see from you next?
EB: I have some personal projects in progress. I have one more collaboration with Alexandre Takeshi where I will be able to work a lot of fur and hair. And in the studio, I'm working on "Panda Bear”, this is sure to be the biggest challenge to make it realistic.
