3dt: Tell us about your art: Your style, themes, genre, and some of the favorite projects you have worked on.
VM: In my work I try to stick to photorealism as it is a style I like and gives my private work a special atmosphere. I mostly draw science fiction and occasionally something in a historical setting. I've always liked the future and the past. Of the projects I've worked on, I can highlight a project calledSurvarium for Vostok Games. It was an interesting experience.

3dt: Can you describe your typical workflow, and the software/hardware you normally use when creating your artwork?
VM: Although the tasks are usually different, the process of creating art is about the same. Everything starts with an idea and some of the most primitive sketches. Usually by this time I already have a clear idea in my head of the whole image. Then the search begins for suitable photo references. If I can't find what I need, then I make the model in ZBrush or 3ds M?x. Then I begin the drawing and Photobashing. At the end I fix the flaws in the work. I always use Photoshop, 3ds Max, ZBrush, and KeyShot. These programs help to speed up the process.

3dt: What inspires you?
VM: Usually everything inspires me. I especially love the artists of the science fiction writers of the 80s, 90s, and artists of the Dutch school, such as Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Jan Vermeer, and Pieter de Hooch. Sometimes my source of inspiration could be movies and books. Good games can also can be an example to which we should strive.

3dt: How do you keep your portfolio up-to-date? Any tips?
VM: I always try to do something, I can't just sit. As soon as I finish one work, the mind already has an idea for the next one. Each work is a chance to practice and study something new. I try to make every job special, so they can all go in the portfolio.

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, traditional or digital, and can you explain why?
VM: I like many traditional artists, mostly old masters: Albrecht dürer, Pieter Bruegel, Hans Holbein, and many others. Of the digital artists I really like Valentin Petrov, J. C Park, Raphael Lacoste, and Eytan Zana. In the works of these artists, I learn a lot.

3dt: What can we expect to see from you next?
VM: My plan is still to do a lot of work. I don't want to dwell on what's already achieved and will continue to develop my skills and abilities. I would like to get better with ZBrush. I hope time and employment will allow me to continue to create works which will delight you.
