I have always been interested in nature renders and after I have seen what could be done in Terragen 2 and 3 I decided to try and achieve the same level of detail but using 3ds Max instead. I feel I have more control over things in Max and the Forest Pack plugin is just incredible! One obstacle I had to face was controlling placement of shaders based on slope and height, but that turned out to be far easier than I could have imagined. I used the same principles to apply snow on the Forest Packed trees at high altitude and this is all handled procedurally. The water depth color is easily adjustable and also affects the rocks underneath.
