Welcome to the first of this five part Mudbox video tutorial series, which will cover the modelling of a character for games. The series is broken into five parts as shown below:

Part 1 - "Applying Colour to the Concept Art"
Part 2 - "Basic 3dsmax Techniques"
Part 3 - "Creating a Base Model"
Part 4 - "Sculpting the General Anatomy"
Part 5 - "Retopologising the Model"

This is the first video in my series of video lessons teaching people how to create a video game character. This video deals with the basics of coloring your concept art. This video is a bit over 10 minutes long, and will probably be the shortest video.

The workflow includes 3ds Max, PolyBoost, MudBox and Photoshop.

The video was encoded using XviD, so you'll need the XviD codec to be able to play the video, which you can get from this link.

Here are some stills from the video:

This is a good tutorial, but there are parts, and specially the mudbox which are completly senseless to beginners. For example your model in mudbox has facets, if I export my model it does not look like yours its too clear and has no facets like yours.

hey! nice tutorials! In your last video you say "see you in the next video" but I can not find any more than 5 video's I miss the part where you use the high poly mudbox model to make good normal maps and use them on the polydraw low poly model.. or am i wrong?
