Texturing

For me, the challenge was to make a cool hair texture. After struggling with Photoshop, I decided to come back to my favorite method: procedural texturing. I made it by blending/mixing some noisy gradients as you can see in Fig.06.

The scarf, jacket, badges, jeans and shoes were made with simple Photoshop texturing (Fig.07). The skin material is a simple standard material with skin color and falloff.

Scene Setup and Rendering

The scene setup was quite simple. I used a V-Ray Sun as the principal light, with a warm Omni (Fig.08) and GI. Then I rendered a few passes (Light/Diffuse/Occlusion/Zdepth), imported them into Photoshop and applied some color correction and exposure control (Fig.09).

good stuff with simple tools.. remember playing with the loft tool back in the day, but these days its zbrush or robots :P think ill have another go and se how far I can push some of the classic tools in Max.. again nice work..
