Texturing

For me, the challenge was to make a cool hair texture. After struggling with Photoshop, I decided to come back to my favorite method: procedural texturing. I made it by blending/mixing some noisy gradients as you can see in Fig.06.

The scarf, jacket, badges, jeans and shoes were made with simple Photoshop texturing (Fig.07). The skin material is a simple standard material with skin color and falloff.

Scene Setup and Rendering

The scene setup was quite simple. I used a V-Ray Sun as the principal light, with a warm Omni (Fig.08) and GI. Then I rendered a few passes (Light/Diffuse/Occlusion/Zdepth), imported them into Photoshop and applied some color correction and exposure control (Fig.09).

That's all folks (Fig.10)! I hope you've enjoyed this making of and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me at [email protected] or [email protected]. If you like this little guy you can find him at his Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Buddy/109293602426948) where you can see some pictures of the art toy) and there is still my portfolio at www.adriencastel.com.
