3DTotal - Did you imagine it was going to be on such a big scale in the early stages of concept?
Khalid - No, only after the first few renders on the 15th day is when I saw the scale, I saw the images at angles even the architects haven't imagined, my first words were ...WoW |

3DTotal - Were you given any guidelines or parameters to follow or did they give you an open brief to do what you wanted?
Khalid - Good question, well they started very tight because the architects were skeptical when it came to one man working on a job that architects have been developing for years, as the first lot went out I then had believers all over ;) but then they were giving me less info and relying on me to come up with solutions!! again I did it many times and it worked, but I am not an architect so I wouldn't like to do there job at all. |

3DTotal -Could you explain why you have used such unusual shapes for the islands. Do they represent something?
Khalid - I did not design the concepts, I only build the visuals and they never were clear on what they represent , sometimes there clams, some times the pearls other times there scorpions.!!! I don't know that answer until today, but if you ask people there what I call them, THe U shapes for the Atolls, The Fishy's for the petals, The smiley face for the crescent and everyone there doesn't mind at all, you will see my impression of it in the animated film for the project

3DTotal - How long did the whole project take?

Khalid - Hmm!! the first images were launched in 23 days, today we are almost finished and it has been a good 4 months with all the stages in there
3DTotal - How did you feel the whole project went, and how did it compare to previous projects that you have done?
Khalid - It went great!! everyone is happy, the clients, the architects, the country, the costumers, software developers, my family and wife, finally me ...I love having my toy ship built and ready to sail, all I need is the Champaign bottles |

3DTotal - If you had the chance to redesign a famous holiday destination what one would you choose?
Khalid
- Nothing comes to mind, but I would like to have time to start on our Movie project.. Have been saying that for months!! he he. |

3DTotal - Apart from working on the Bahraini World Trade Center project, what other projects have you been working on?
Khalid - Well in the last 4 months, I have completed the world Trade center, The Bahrain international airport, 10 stamps for the country, and finally the completion of the Durrat animation film, I also am starting soon on 3 big projects, one is 4 times the size of Durrat cant say much about it at this time, these projects are on governmental scales and any leek of info can be crucial for the success of it, but will update you definitely on any new developments

Khalid - Well to start I would like to thank you Chris and Ben of 3DTtotal, you guys have been great to me, you have supported me from day one and I thank you for that, my support to you and to the community is just the little that I can give back to this world we live in, and I will continue onboard with you guys.
One last thing, my mission is to get the world to change to the better and to show the world what we do and to make it a happier and more colourful environment for us all. Things will not change until we try to change them. We are the future and the time has come to step up and become it. Art has no skin or religion or belief. It should always be beautiful and that is what I aim for.
My advice to all the artists, you need to always follow your dreams and never let anything put you down. If it did not work the first time you have to try over and over. The only thing that will make you fail is when you stop believing in your self |
