3DTotal - Hi Carlos can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Carlos -
Ok! I was born in Spain 23 years ago, then when I was 19, I moved to the UK and started working in different studios from then until now. I really enjoy working in the animation industry and I think it's great to be able to live doing what you really like to do.

3DTotal - What made you decide to follow a career in 3D?
Carlos -
From an early age I have always liked and have had a lot of interest in animation, I always love to watch cartoons and doodle with my pencil, so when I had the opportunity to start studying animation I didn't think twice about it and went for it. I studied for 3 years in traditional animation and then at the end of the previous year I found out about 3d animation and from then I’ve being studying and working in this field and I don't seem to ever get bored!

3DTotal - Bath Time is such a really nice piece of work and the original character design is top notch, but what made you choose this particular scenario?

Carlos - The idea about bath time come from some early test I was doing to practice animation with a small dog made of boxes; I really enjoy doing these tests and I realised that the character was really funny and had such appeal so I decide to start thinking about an idea to make a small short with him. I am mainly a character animator this is why I tried to keep all the other sides of the short quite simple and concentrate on the animation, you have to take care when you are doing a short film and be sure about what you are able to do

3DTotal - The style of Bath Time is very cartoony is this the particular style you like to base your work on?
Carlos - I really like the style, I always prefer to animate cartoony characters they seem to me to be more expressive and simple to animate, in some projects I have worked on, I've animated some realistic characters and I think its a lot more complex, you need to be subtle, but working with realistic characters you can learn a lot about weights and movement and that can be used later in your animations

3DTotal - Will there be a follow up to Bath Time or will you create something different altogether as your next project?
Carlos - At the moment I am trying to complete a few exercises of acting, they are simply small test of animation to be able to use in my new reel and at the same time learn and practice, right now I'm really concentrating in the subject because I think it's one of the more important subjects in animation, but I always leave the door open for the sequel of bath Time, who knows, perhaps Food Time or Play Time...

3DTotal - Is there any part of the 3D process that you think you excel at?
Carlos - The animation, no doubt

3DTotal - and which part is
your favourite ?
Carlos - The animation also, I have a lot of fun getting inside the personality of different characters and trying to develop it in the animations, the rest of the aspects like illumination, modeling, etc for me are like the prize at the end of the animation, once I finish the animation I put all the details together to polish it and leave it perfect, but without a doubt the part that I most enjoy is the animation
