Our last part is that you will have noticed that the shafts separate and come back together. This is compensated for in the shafts by having the left inner shaft have a long piece smaller in diameter that the right inner shaft which has gear teeth and the right inner shaft will have a matching cavity for the left shaft to fit into. this allows in mechanics for one piece to rotate the other piece yet still have the ability to slide apart. This assembly is usually greased down then covered with a rubber piece like an accordion. We don't need to model the entire thing since its all covered by the rubber piece. In fig6. you can see two dummies linked to the inner shafts and I draw a line as the rubber housing. then center the axis of that line to the shafts and apply a lathe as well as a skin modifier. The dummies act as the bones. The final assembly looks like fig7. and will animate like vid3.avi
