This
tutorial is suitable for beginners to intermediate users of Lightwave 3d and im
assuming that the basic knowledge from the software is at your hand.The procedure
will also work on different package such as Maya and Max so other users may apply
this techniques.
Before
starting with this tutorial i recommend using POZ Extender plugin which you can
download at Flay.com, this version is a non-looping extender which eliminates
those unwanted back faces.
The
car were going to model for this project is the Nissan Z you can get a copy of
its blueprints at Onnovanbraam or at Suurland.

Hide
our fender, select all and press - to hide.From the top view draw a box draging
from the red mark below all way up to the red mark above, we will create our headlight
sockets.
Press
SHIFT+D to access the subdivide panel and choose faceted leave the fractal value
unchanged.We have subdivided our plane to four sections and ready to define its
shape,Hit TAB for subpatch mode and move to the next step.
Assuming
you have understood the techniques from our previous steps the figure at the left
shows the result of moving points conforming to the shape of the headlights.Again
pay attention in all views and see if you get in right places.
Your
project should look like the image on the left.
When
modeling, i recommend turning off the specular and put darker color to your object
in order to get things more visible a get lots of control.
Press
\ to unhide our fender created earlier, in point mode select the 2 points in order
1 & 2 as shown in the image, yes it should be in order the last point you
have selected is where all the previous selection will take rest thats what modeler
behaviour is, press ctrl+w or weld points.
Select
the other 2 points and weld them.The project should look like the image on the
next step.
