Julian Sarmiento started out at Enteraktion Studios in NBC as an Art Director. At Enteraktion Studios he started research on multiples aspects of CG: character development, motion capture, lighting and rendering techniques. Accomplishing multiple captures in one pass combining chroma key, motion capture, camera and environment tracking with very little post processing.

Shortly after leaving Enteraktion studios Julian was picked up by Digital Domain as a Modeler/Setup. He spent most of his time at Digital Domain working on cloth simulation and developing modeling techniques for facial deformation on the photo realistic main character, “Sonny”, on the Academy Award Nominee for Best Visual Effects, I, Robot.

In 2004, Julian moved to Sony Pictures Imageworks working as a technical animator using Motion Capture on the Warner Brothers film “The Polar Express.“ Julian is currently working on upcoming film from Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis “Monster House”. Using his talent in the modeling department and as a technical animator doing FACS (Facial Action Coding System) by Interpreting the actor performance to modified face shapes that logically fit with the character, while maintaining visual beauty and continuity.

Recently, Julian has become an active member in 3dTotal. He writes’ exclusive tutorials and articles as well recreating training Maya DVDs to target the Maya community.

In his free time Julian enjoys teaching people the different techniques of modeling and researching multiple areas of CG and day-by-day improving his understanding on different aspects of the media, focusing on hyper real techniques.
