  • 3DTotal Presents 'The Shorts Drawer' Volume 2, 2005 Edition DVD. Planned for 2005, we are looknig for submissions now! After the overwhelming volume of submissions for this years DVD (click here for the lineup of the 2004 edition) we have decided to make a start on the next volume already. If you submitted for volume 1 and were unsuccessful then now is your chance to get involved again, and if you are completely new to the Shorts Drawer then read on...

  • The 'Shorts Drawer' is a Collection of the finest independent animated movies and commercial trailers. The DVD will include work from a whole number or different sources, such as students, independents animators and commercial studios. We want people to be able to view this wealth of elite animation in one convenient high resolution package whilst generating much exposure for these talented artists at the same time.

  • The DVD is divided into 2 categories, Complete shorts, and Clips & Trailers .

  • If you would like to be notified when the 2004 DVD goes on sale then click this link to be added to the mailing list: ben@3dtotal.com
What we are looking for...

Complete Shorts
The first section, 'The complete shorts' is packed with non commercial projects from independent animators.

Clips & Trailers.
The second section, 'Clips, Trailers and Showreels' contains trailers and clips of commercial projects from professional studios.

We will only include...

The very best of the submissions we recieve. So please do not be upset if your submission is not chosen for the final dvd. For a better idea of the kind of quality of animation we expect please view the 2004 lineup here or visit the 3dtotal galleries here.

Compression Quality Issues...
In order to make sure that the DVD is of the highest quality we will eventually need copies of the highest resolution you have, in the least compressed format as possible. Exceptions can be made in certain circumstances but obviously the better quality movies and images we can get, the better quality the resulting DVD will be. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding resolution/compression issues. The best version we could ask for is an mpeg2, PAL 720x576 (or widescreen equivalent) file. Please note, you will not need to send us this version during the submission / consideration process. This is for the final version only.

Extras...
In order for this to be a complete DVD we would like to include all sorts of 'extras' as well as the final Movie. Extras such as Storyboards, Artwork, Screen Grabs, Scenes of the WIP, Making-of's, Extra Images, Outtakes etc. If it is at all possible to supply any of these it would go a long way to making this a really special product.

What we Need from you now...
All you need send us is a link to your online version of the movie, or a web version of the movie via email to this address: ben@3dtotal.com

Information...
For your own benefit, as far as exposure, goes it would be good if you could also supply in writing (this information will make up the page of the DVD that introduces each individual movie):

  • Credits for the movie (we dont want to spell anyone's name wrong or miss anyone out!).
  • A Brief explanation of the idea behind the movie.
  • What inspired you to make it?
  • Time taken to Produce. (approx).
  • Any other thoughts or comments you would like to add.

Permissions...
We don't expect anyone to hand over the rights to their movies to us. You will retain ALL rights, copyright and otherwise to ALL of your work. We will only have your permission to include it and the information you give us on the DVD which we will be selling from www.3dtotal.com, and any of the marketing and advertising we use to promote it.

Click here to view the "Agreement for the use of files submitted to 3DTotal.com Ltd".

In order for us to make sure that we both be secure in this agreement we would ask you to read it carefully. We have every intention of being upfront and honest with all collaborators of 3DTotal and would not want to 'tread on anyones toes' or produce anything that may be of annoyance to anyone involved so please do let us know if you have any problems with any part of this project. ben@3dtotal.com

We will keep you updated on the progress of the project and I will let you know when any details or decisions are available.

We at 3DTotal cannot thank you enough for your collaboration in this project and we hope that it is a success for all.
