3DTotal:
What do you do for money at the moment?
Anthony:
Freelance work for various independent RPG publishers and a privately-funded
project
being in development
.

3DTotal: As a freelancer, you must get a very varied range of projects...
What sort of projects have you had over the last year?

Anthony: It’s not varied at all, in fact. It keeps on switching back from sci-fi, to fantasy and modern. I
always get to keep my style, too. I have the liberty to choose what I want to do. I often decline
commissions that are out of my interest. This is because I have a very good client network, all set in the same range of interest, so I get to do cool stuff all the time and never get bored!

3DTotal: And how do these projects compare to the video game industry that you worked in previously?
Anthony:They require ready for print production art. I have to care about how it'll look on paper. RPG .

covers play a good part for their financial success. Since most of the covers are displayed as thumbnails on selling sites, I have to make sure those colors strikes the potential customers, and that it distinguish itself from the mass. Video games has an whole different dynamic regarding marketing success.

3DTotal: And you knew a few of the existing members from Deviant Art. How important are sites such as Deviant and conceptart.org to the future of digital painting?
Anthony: It’s a great way to evaluate your progress as an artist. Without these sites, an artist can drift away into their own artistic bubble and never really know how good they really are. Art exists in the eyes of others. These websites are important tools for any artist seeking improvement. The average artist is, in my opinion, a lot more skilful than the ones that lived before the arrival of the Internet...

3DTotal: Do you have one piece of advice for any aspiring freelancers out there?
Anthony: Building up a client network is a great way to achieve a certain degree of stability. Gather enough clients so you have a consistent work flow. Be methodical and work fast! And make sure you use PayPal, because checks are lame!
