3dtotal: Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you, what do you do, and where are you located?
Rakib Hasan: Hello, I am Rakib Hasan. I'm a digital sculptor (I love introducing myself as a sculptor) and I'm from Bangladesh. I came from a completely different background, raised in a place where we hardly have internet. But one day, one of my uncles bought a PC for me and I bought game to play (Assassins Creed 2). Before I started playing it, I was like, I must learn how to make those type of characters, and I began my dramatic journey of learning CG art.

I don't have an academic background in fine arts or anything like that, but I always loved to draw. As my father was an amazing artist, he used to draw things in every corner of our house, so he was my biggest inspiration to be an artist.

3dt: Where did you find the inspiration for your latest gallery entry? What's the story behind its creation?
RH: I am a huge fan of Bayard Wu. I used to follow his concept work a lot. Deciding that I wanted to sculpt something really detailed, I chose his succubus concept and started sculpting.

I used ZBrush mostly, and then KeyShot for the rendering. I faced some difficulties when it was time to bring the character to life, like the concept, and give her the proper pose. It was a really challenging part of this sculpt.

3dt: Do you normally use this software in your workflow? What other software and plug-ins do you favor?
RH: Yes i mostly use ZBrush and KeyShot for my work, but I also use Topogun, 3ds Max, and Quixel when it comes to modeling a character for games or cinematics.

3dt: Are there any particular techniques that you use often? Or do you like to experiment?
RH: Mostly, at first I do a rough blocking in ZBrush, and then begin sculpting to try and get the form. When I feel the form is there, I begin the retopology in Topogun. After, it's back to ZBrush to add some final details. There are so many way to sculpt; I think I still have so many things to learn. So I also love to experiment with tools and techniques.

3dt: What are your artistic ambitions?
RH: Someday I want to see my characters in world-class cinematics, games and in the toy industry. I always love to watch cinematics more than playing the games themselves. And I am a huge fan of Blizzard cinematics. I've always dreamed of working on a cinematic like theirs. I also love toys a lot, so making characters for collectibles would also be great. I want to sculpt more characters for the collectible industry, mostly the biggest licenses, like Marvel and DC.

3dt: What software would you like to learn in the future and how do you keep your portfolio up-to-date?
RH: There are lots of things to learn, but for now, my main focus is Substance Painter. For cinematic rendering I am learning V-Ray, and also thinking to learn Arnold.

As for my portfolio, I'm always trying to sculpt something better then my previous one. I keep my best work to the fore of my folio page. That's how I am updating my portfolio.

3dt: Who are your favorite artists, and what can we expect to see from you next?
RH: There are so many, but some name I must mention: Bruno Câmara, Gilberto Magno, Furio Tedeschi,
Vitaly Bulgarov, Daniel Bel, Caleb Nefzen, and Romell Chopraa.

Recently I am working for some commission stuff mostly for table top games and toys. Some of them are really detailed and challenging, so I will try to give my best with those.
