6. Tomb Raider

Square Enix has re-released the original Tomb Raider on iOS devices (99p) just in time for one of the most unexpectedly boring times of year. The pitch-perfect conversion is resplendent in its blocky graphics, but its rollicking adventure is still just as compulsive as it was in 1996.

7. Samsung GamePad

Unfortunately this isn't out quite yet, but we rather like it. The Samsung GamePad is premium-feeling steel controller that connects to any Android device running 4.1 or above, and lets you play your favourite games without getting greasy fingerprints all over the screen. It'll support 35 games at launch, including Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Prince of Persia.

8. The Q

We love the idea of this: The Q is a camera designed specifically for social situations, with a 3G connection to back up your pics, a ring flash to make your subjects look gorgeous, and it's waterproof and shockproof so it'll survive the roughest of parties. In practise, we'll probably stick with a smartphone, but it's still a cool concept.

9. Deltaprintr

Deltaprintr's 3D printer simplifies the design of the plastic replicators and makes it far cheaper and more user-friendly. It consists of a polar coordinate system, and while we're not entirely sure what that is, it looks like it only has 3 arms instead of the more traditional 4. It's currently seeking funds via Kickstarter, and once funded its makers reckon they'll be able to flog it for $425 US.

10. Bright Idea USB Lightbulb

How long are we going to be able to get away with sticking a lamp at the end of this feature? The Bright Idea USB Lightbulb (£10.99) connects via USB and looks like a light bulb, and it even glows in the dark when it's not powered up.
