From Paper to After Effects - Creating an Animated Short from Scratch: Lesson 01

3DTotal are proud to feature a brand new, comprehensive, multi-part tutorial series from e.d. Films, which will result in the creation of an animated short. In the first lesson, they look at how to create a simple, fast-acting, ink pen in Photoshop. This is an ideal tool for drawing and cross hatching in large compositions like the one used for Rocket Randee. They cover a number of concepts including:

• Canvas size when making characters for use in After Effects
• A look at real ink marks
• Shape Dynamics and the Size Minimum setting
• Transfer Dynamics, the difference between Flow and Opacity
• Dual Brush, Size, Spacing, Scatter and Count
