This is a video tutorial about how to make an HDR for image-based lighting for CGI. It comprises the equipment and the working methods I used to create my award-winning Mars Ice Cream photo.

I want to demonstrate how simple it can be create HDRs for image-based lighting. It's not a complex black art; just a simple choice of the right equipment and efficient workflow. For Mars I used the Atom Head from 360 Precision, the 8mm fisheye lens and the Canon Mark 3.

The free HDR and backplate can be downloaded from here.

@Akabez, this is free and informative, you don't have to buy the atom head or use a sigma lens but Nigel is showing HIS setup and explaining HIS workflow, you haven't paid to watch this so you can't really complain about the content imo

cgi backplates helps a lot to adjust the lighting while shooting and taking images. I always use these plates.

I am sorry but this is not a tutorial. it's a bloody commercial for the atom head and the sigma. A tutorial explain waht you do, you would say that it's possible to do it with a philopod, or any pnoramic head or fisheye lens. sorry, but this tutorial was a bit of a joke i think.
