As everything was more or less defined by now, I started to wander around the image and fix small things, render tiny bits and create sub elements (Fig.09).


Again, the Lasso tool is great for this. Using the selection combined with a soft round brush or a radial gradient of a lighter value, you can extract forms within forms creating more depth. After that you can remove from that shape to create a more intricate edge.

Using a color adjustment layer on the big waterfall, I cooled the water to create more warm/cool contrast (Fig.10).



To finalize the image, I added a few more rocks in the background near the horizon line and some foreground vegetation. This allowed me to increase the number of mid-ground layers, thus giving more depth to the piece. I felt the image was balanced so I flattened it and applied an Unsharp Mask filter. It made the texture of the brushes pop and sharpened the edges (Fig.11).
