Does anyone these days still thinks that directors and scriptwriters these days have nothing to learn from the videogames industry?Anyone who has been into the Mass Effect saga will simply get the shivers by watching this trailer... So awesome.

I sometimes envy how involved some people can get into games. I've played both mass effects with the same char, love the games, but i forget the story as soon as i put down the joystick after the ending of the game, and it slowly starts to come back to me when i play the next installment.I hope to go lesbionic in this next one tho (always play as a chick, give me something fun to look at), never seen any of the fabled fondling scenes of the series :(

EA and Bioware have released a new trailer for Mass Effect 3, showing off a CGI Shepa EA and Bioware have released a new trailer for Mass Effect 3, showing off a CGI Shepard accompanied by Ashley as they take the fight back to the Reapers to try to regain control of Earth. The trailer of course isn't representative at all of how the game looks in action, but is some pretty nice eye-candy for those who like the Mass Effect universe - there's even cameos from the Mako, Hammerhead and Normandy glimpsed throughout.

I think overall I prefered the "total game" of Mass Effect 1 more than Mass Effect 2, but the gameplay in Mass Effect 2 is quite a bit smoother (and the Mako does NOT help ME1's case at all). It was tighter, faster, and more engaging. It felt like real honest to goodness combat. The combat in Mass Effect 1, by comparison, was very...forced and stale. It really hadn't crossed the bridge from traditional RPG combat (ie NWN) into the 3rd person OTS combat you'd expect and it felt really out of place as a result.I liked the scale of Mass Effects universe to explore...but there really wasn't anything special to see compared to every location in ME2 being unique. And of course, the Mako's obnoxious controls and design got in the way of that exploration too. With all the new indie developers working on procedural content generation, it's too bad that Bioware couldn't have attempted something similar to flesh out the ME2 universe for more thorough exploration (and for powergamers who love "overpowering" the game, to supe up their characters).Sadly, EA's influence over the "packaging" of Mass Effect 2 has pretty much ensured I will not buy Mass Effect 3. All the crap they pulled between ME2, DA, and DA2...I cannot forgive or forget. It wasn't just "bad", it was thoroughly inexcusable, and I will not put money into the hands of any company that treats their customers like that. (erm...sorry /rant)
McKronic: You'll be happy to know Mass Effect 3 will have more difficult combat than Mass Effect 2 did. Additionally, Shepard will be more mobile and have new melee attacks, so this might spice things up for you. The game will also have 3 ways to play it: Action, RPG and Story.
That sounds intriguing, I haven't given up on it haha I'll be getting it release day regardless, improved combat would be a nice treat. I actually have the demo downloaded so I'll be checking it out later tonight.

tsabszy - I agree with everything you said. Oh and in Canada standard edition games are 59.99 and special editions are usually 79.99 :(. I love the whole concept of mass effect, the story, the characters, and I'm excited to see what happens next, but at the end of the day it's an action RPG and should play like one. There should be actual strategy, lots of variations in the weapons and skills, make me really notice a difference when I swap the different characters into my party. The dialog and cut scenes are awesome but the combat needs to deliver, I should be excited for each battle I enter not bummed out knowing it's going to be the same rinse and repeat formula for every combat situation. Maybe they're trying to keep things simple for the casual gamer but for someone who games a lot you whip through me2 with no challenge, desiring so much more. If I want to play a game where there's not a lot of stimulation I can throw on a cheap xbox arcade game and mess around with that.

well as i remember it was about 60$ but regarless i really don't regret buying the CE of me2 since this way i have an awsome box on my selves. but i agree with you in the fact that me2 was a step back in story, gameplay and in general content. i was thrilled at the beginning of the game and couldn't believe it was so great.. then at the very next mission i realised it was just a show for the guys who only play the start of the game or the demo. after it there was like 2 spectacular parts of the game that had a great feeling and/or when actually the story advanced (the collector ship and when collectors attacked the normandy) the end promised a lot during the game but it became dull and my main problem was that nothing really get unveiled :( no great conversations where you get to know a lot of things about the univers and asks questions in your mind, no.. nothing. i personally didn't like the new combat system either.. how is that an improvement when i didn't have to bother with ammo in me1 and now i'm depending on it? i feel it's a step back too. when i by up everything from a shop and i go back hours later, it's still empty.. it's a step back too. in me1 sometimes the items they offered in shops were the same and i could rarely buy some new stuff becouse of it but i expected the developers to upgrade the system, not downgrade it :) tbh me2 was a great game, but it came after me1 and comparing them the result is: i have beaten me1 4 times and enjoyed them all, and just loaded some parts like 100 times to see and hear again in the game.. i didn't do anything like that in me2 only with the beginning of the game and i've hardly beaten me2 2 times. i hope Freespace you're right and me3 will be the crown on the whole mass effect trilogy, i'm hoping the same!

The game could of delivered a little more out of the box, especially after spending 80$ on the special edition you shouldn't have to spend additional money to get core story elements. The majority of the game is spent gathering team members, getting piece mealed a little bit of story and then at the last section of the game you get a glimpse of what's going on and it ends. I also think the combat took a dive compared to the first one, it got so repetitive, no real difficulty increase throughout the game aside from the one section on the collector ship with all the moving platforms. All the characters played essentially the same. Exploring planets was monotonous. I feel the game took a step backwards when they could of polished upon some of the great things in ME1.

Mass Effect 2 was bridging the plot between the first and the last game in the trilogy. It is usually the case with part 2 of 3 that the ending does not satisfy.Additionally, the immense amount of story DLC did a great job of rounding out the story of Mass Effect 2, especially Lair of the Shadowbroker.I've preordered my Collector's Edition for M3. I have faith it will not disappoint.

the editing was very bad, full of fades to black and kinda all over the place. overall this seems to me as pretty pointless trailer, doesnt tell anything and is filled with clich (little girl with airplane being the most painful). not that good

i know, it's just not Ashley Williams any more :) i mean a soldier like ashley would never let her hair down like that when there's a war going on :) ok maybe she would like to hook up with Shepard (or in some universes hook up again :P) and so she'd like to look more attractive but still :D
