I find these kinds of demos ...disingenuous? Most respectable render engines are capable of these fidelity levels so there's nothing "remarkable" about what they're showing off in that regard. The question is...what kind of time, resources, etc etc does it take to *achieve* them. How long does it take to set up a given scene? What kind of render times does it achieve and at what level of detail density? Can it do this out of the box or are we looking at a lot of plugins at work too?Unfortunately, without testimonials from "boots on the ground" that are rarely made available, all we're left with is lots of eye-candy and an abundance of unanswered questions. In fact, about the only render engine that I've ever really seen/read/heard any sort of real in-depth information spread about is Pixar's (well Disney now I guess) RenderMan. Even that was pretty barebones.Don't get me wrong, I loved what I saw, but...I'm an information monger. It's not simply enough to know that it can do something. I want to know how *well* it does at it and what it takes to get it there.
