For an example of no uncanny valley, check out games like Uncharted 3 or The Last of Us. I think they successfully broke that barrier with those. Also, the characters in StarCraft II are not uncanny but still incredibly well animated, because of the exaggerated proportions in standard Blizzard fashion.

Great to see the making of. I feel their faces are still in the Uncanny Valley, but really, who's isn't?
