not all remakes are bad. some really good movies that are considered classic are remakes, movies like Scarface and The Departed the are plenty others out there

like 90% of sci-fi classics to date Total Recall was taken from a story by Philip K Dick that then had the whole message removed so cinema going audiences could understand it.There's plenty of room for this to go in a different direction and explore some of the aspects of the original story that weren't touched on in the Schwarzenegger version.
I've been growing more and more disappointed all the time. Nobody seems to have any creativity any more. It's getting hard to find a well made movie with a good plot.
I fundamentally disagree with the notion of an overall decrease in the quality of film-making. You can go back decades, and every year there are 10 or 15 good-great films and hundreds of decent-to-bad ones. History tends to remember a few of the real stinkers, but forgets most of the mediocrity.Bad, uncreative films get made, but it's not a new phenomenon. There are still a large number of films every single year that remind me why I love movies. Show me a year that released 15+ classics and I'll happily eat my words.

Yay. it's bourne identity meets sci-fi ... seems more like sigh-fi. wish they would rather use that money for a good cause like lobbying for better gas prices that this crap ...
I've been growing more and more disappointed all the time. Nobody seems to have any creativity any more. It's getting hard to find a well made movie with a good plot. This remake does seem pointless, but to say it's "one of the most pointless", I would have to make a top-100 list, or rather, a top-10 list with 100 entries, because there would be so many "ties" lately.
You are mistaken. The creativity has not gone anywhere. The problem is one of money. The people WITH the money want to make as much of it as possible risking as little (read as close to zero as it gets) as possible. Thus, they take no risks and "remake" known commodities. It's the same reason why games are stagnating. The people who control the purse strings don't want to try "new and untested" they want formulaic crap rehashed over and over. They're not looking at the end product, or the story or characters that inhabit the product, they're looking at a bullet-point summary of marketable factoids, what I call the "movies-by-spreadsheet" phenomenon. "Does it have X? Or how about Y? Can we work in trope-Z? Our marketing people tell us that's selling really well. Okay, you rewrite your idea with those things and get back to us."

Yes, I agree, the art direction is atmospheric at at times it helps the trailer but overall It seems like Hollywood has found a formula and they trying to squiz everything from it before moving on. Steady ticket income gives them the reason to do so. After that, I see light in the future. Independent movies, Internet festivals for example make it easier for up and coming professionals to dive into the bloodstream of this industry. I wonder what we will be watching, and how, in ten years from now... Imagine.

When it come to remake film plots are some time change to keep it fresh, the effects are updated and casts are just right for this kind of action film."Hasta vista 90's"!!!

I myself have never seen the original completely, seen parts and segments. That being said I don't really care how close it would be to the original. Visually it looks very nice, guess we would have to wait and see :)

pardon my french, but this is bullsh!t. not even kate beckinsale and brian cranston make me see this movie. ill just give hollywood the middlefinger for ripping off another arnold classic. if they ever remake temrinator 2, i will personally start downloading every film on this planet, burn it to dvd ant throw them around in shopping malls etc, so no one ever buys anything again. f u hollywood, and all your talentless writer b1tches. its a damn shame.

Even if it's a remake and, in case they didn't change anything major, we know the plot twists, I don't like how this trailer gives so much away. This is one of the more spoilery trailers (we see betrayals, character deaths) I've seen in a while. The Surrogates trailer is also like that (it actually starts out with the very last scene of the movie). That said, the visuals are incredible and I love the art direction. Reminds me of Blade Runner, 5th Element and even the original Total Recall.

I was dissapointed when I heard they were remaking this but it actually looks like it might be ok. Still wish they would give the remakes a rest though, has everyone run out of ideas?
