Hi Lukáš! Thanks for taking the time out to chat to us! Can you start by introducing us with a bit of background about you and your role in the 3D industry?

It's a pleasure. What about me? I'm from Slovakia, I'm 26 years old. I guess I don't really have role in 3D industry – not yet, anyway. I work as a freelancer, mostly for local ad agencies.

Can you tell us about your photo-scanning explorations – how did it all start and where are you heading with it?

Well, I started with some environment props. Going around train stations and shooting/scanning interesting looking shapes and objects. Then I moved to the human face. In the process I found that the created scene with all the cameras calibrated around it was far more useful than the textured model itself. It allowed me to check the model from dozens of angles, everything lining up accurately. A great modeling environment, much superior to your average front, side and three-quarter-view reference planes.

In your opinion, how important are personal projects like these to an artist such as yourself?

Very important. It gives me the freedom to do whatever I want, however I want. It's nice to be the person who is making all the calls, instead of being the middle-man executing other people's ideas
