The latest issue of 2dartist is available now!

Our sci-fi cover image this month is by Quantic Dream art director and concept artist, Benoit Godde, who has worked on award winning titles such as Heavy Rain and La vie en Rose. We caught up with Benoit before the release of the eagerly anticipated Beyond: Two Souls, to find out more about his journey to the top of his game! We also chat with Ubisoft character development artist, Xavier Etchepare, who shares his inspirations and experiences working as a concept artist in the video game industry.

If you are after more sci-fi characters look no further than Clonerh Kimura's project overview, which was inspired by girls, guns and sci-fi! For those of you who want to exploit your skills as a colorist to create a piece like this, then Clonerh is your guy!

Among the page-turning interviews and inspirational gallery images we have an impressive tutorial section exploding with useful tips and techniques for you to learn from the pros!

Character design relies heavily on shape, color and theory. In this tutorial, Paolo Puggioni demonstrates how he uses these factors to convey a feeling of evil in his character.

Inevitably, at the peak of many fantasy films an epic war unfolds. Creating these dramatic scenes can seem like a daunting task to get right and that's where we have Donovan Valdes at the ready to talk you through the steps of creating a complex scene between two battling sides!

Continuing with the ever-popular fantasy theme, YongSub Noh tackles another important element that makes up a fantasy universe – creature design! In this tutorial, YongSub shares techniques on how to concept an interesting fantasy creature by modifying an already-existing one!

We also talk sketching inspiration and techniques with Mark A. Nelson – who boasts clients such as Wizards of the Coast, Marvel and DC comics – as he shares page after page of captivating sketches.

With this array of themes and talented instructors you'd be hard pushed not to feel inspired and ready for new creations after reading this month's issue!
