Thanks guys!More WIP's to come.[U]about the beard[/U]- It was done with maya paint-fx.preety simple hair brush with some tweeks, after that in was converted tomesh and rendered with the rest of the pirate in maxwell.[U]about the poly's count[/U]- I'll check and get back to you.but as it not made for games(real-time) or a client(tight dead-lines)-I preffer to think and try to get the best result I can-not letting the computing and render time effect my creativedecisions.

Thank you!Yep, its all 3d, except the sky and sea which was matte-painted with some photos.Here are some clay render and wires, as you can see- after blocking and sculpting the major details and folds I did some retopology to get those on my actual model. after that I did somthing like 2 more rounds of details which was later exported as displacement maps and normal maps for the final render.
