What about the background visual, is it 3d or photograph? Did you use motion blur on 3d render?

Boring? I think this is superb. Cool environment, lighting, everything! I'm curious how you get your backgrounds?

I love the rendering, i feel the motion in the car as it moves toward the mountains trying to catch the sun before it goes down. Nice work.

Was just the bit attached but I think it's also a reflection of the ground plane so no worries hehAre you adding the Bokeh in post or doing it on render? Does add a nice bit of realism.

Very nice detail work on the car! When can I drive it? Bet would be fun to drive for real.

The realism is outstanding! Though I think if you added more deformations such as cracks and bumps in the tarmac it would really add to the whole scene. A cracking render nonetheless!
I can't check your model right now as cg-cars is broken at the moment but from the white studio shot it looks like you've modelled a crease at the side which doesn't exist. The reference image that you've most likely taken that from is in fact a reflection of the side of the road. Also the orange front light may be intersecting, could just be a perfectly aligned reflection but if not, I suggest modelling it properly.Other than those the modelling is very good and the shaders and rendering are excellent, well done. Looking forward to the animation.edit: Ah, just saw on your site that the side crease isn't there unless you added it after? nice site btw
Oh thanks for your feedback! It's good to have crits like this, but I really don't know what you mean with that crease on the side. Which side, which part? The indicator is in fact reflected in the headlight.I was confused myself when I rendered that. Like wtf is going on there.. Maybe the chrome needs more depth to avoid that. I guess you also have seen this on the clay renders afterwards. Thanks again.Dave: That's a cool question. I usually end up saying: Damn it, I forgot to change this and that, increase these values and lower this. Most of the time it's not really fun. eutous: It's all about the environment which also includes light. Questioned that myself so many times, but it's true.Destrega: Same here, so many things to do and I barely have to for my own stuff. I was happy to render atleast these images, which should be sort of WIP for the animation. I acutally don't like to show stuff like that in progress.Guys if you have ideas for the animation, don't hesitate to share your opinions, ideas, visions :)Cheers, exidge

Thanks for the link, you really got the uber awesome car look. If I would need a race for my Lord Inquisitor movie you would be my choice:P Just saw you live in germany? Cool, me too:P Did you saw my Audi R8 spot on my homepage? I really love car animations and currently working on a Pagani Zonda short clip. But sadly because of so much 3d stuff at work I canT continue working on it....hehe but when I look at your images I really get motivated to continue:) I don't think your last two images can't get more realistic;)

I looked at your portfolio and realized I really don't know anything, really. I think lighting and the environment is key. Am yet to master those.

Man alive you have some skills when it comes to modeling cars. Your lighting is also super well done. This is stuff you should be really proud with.

I agree, the studio is boring and s#$@s. Started to work on the animation. It's not always about the view, sometimes you get so bored of any view. But I agree, this one really sucked.btw your characters are interesting! There will be following:Cars: Novitec TT and Reventon Highway PoliceEnvironment: Something like a desert environment with bushes and sand...Camera: Not sure yet but it will probably start with a burnout... but there will be a lot more thingsStory: Cop chasing a racer! It's more about the cameras than the story but hopefully the progresss will develop a real story ,too.15minute renders with their issues, but it's in development :) ..

of course it looks cool, didnt say anything else:) But as a motive it is rather boring for me to show the front view only lit in such neutral light. Anyway it is looking awesome, but compared to other studio car renders rather boring;)
The studio version is simple and boring but for that nice and clean:) The outdoor version is a tenthoussand times cooler and visual more interesting. So Im curious for the aniamtion, your model is excellent and it seems to me your render skills as well;)
You think the studio is boring? It is really well lit up. I love a good studio.@ X - did you use lightbox or whatever it is called to make the lights look illuminated? Also mind sharing what render passes you used?
this is top notch work.....love the renders...one question: are the greyscale renders also done in 3ds Max/V-Ray or in Maya?can you tell me or suggest me any good tutorials for greyscale rendering in maya that can produce similar results to yours? thank you.
Hey man thanks. I rendered this in Max, but in Maya you can achieve similar results. This is not one click solution, but if you look closer, there is nothing special about it. Simple shaders, with strong Specular and Ambient Occlusion.Regards, exidge

Hehe, I totally agree. Thank you for your input. When I find more time, I'll render some more still images. All I can say is that it was not important for me to get a super creative image instead I wanted a photo like image in retro style. But I agree, I need something where it shows the car better. But it's no problem, I'm not done with it. The animation is in progress, tho.X

Great model, and render, all works fine technically...But artistically I find this frame boring... you really do not show much of a model...as it is the main player here..Some how the view steals most of the attention...and it's really hard to concentrate on the creation.I just think you can get much more of it...shame to waste such brilliant piece

Thanks. The body I worked for around one month including learning Maya ( I did not learn to model, I did learn Maya ). There were many important things which needed a lot attention and I wanted it as accurate as possible. The interior took maybe half a month, most of the time took the reference research. I spend not much on rendering, maybe half a day.Cheers, exidge
