An interview with Tuna Ferit Hidayetoglu

3DTotal - Having mastered the traditional way for creating images, have you ever thought about swapping your paper and pencil's for a computer and a graphics tablet?
Tuna
-
Tradational art is my passion, although I'm not going to limiting myself strictly to tradational art, I really have a lot pleasure in drawing with pencils now. I would love to practice digital art since it offers more advantages. Tradational art is just too cruel with your mistakes and with digital art it is just a matter of key combination, CTRL+Z and you are fresh. Well, to practice digital art in a way I want, I will need a nice tablet first.

3DTotal - As far as I can see, everyone of your images are of women, why is this? What are your inspirations towards this subject? Have you ever drawn something else such as an animal or a landscape?
Tuna - In my opinion of art, women are aesthetic objects by nature. Needles to say, they are my inspiration too. I usually work at night and within this silence I unite with my drawing. As I really consume a lot of time on each piece of work, I prefer to work on things I love. I'm only interested in human figures for now. To be honest, animal or landscape drawings are not really my type of subjects but who knows maybe in the future?

3DTotal - Did your fascination for drawing the human form lead to you working freelance producing medical illustrations?
Tuna - Sure it does, to produce a perfect drawing it takes a good knowledge of anathomy. While drawing a human form, I study and memorize all lines carefully, both in the face and body. It helps later a lot whilst working on medical illustrations. I think all practice in the past has taught me well, I know how to create perfect proportions by instinct now.

3DTotal -
What are you plans for the future in terms of your career?
Tuna - My future goal is to study medical illustration abroad. I want to help Turkish students once we have our medical illustration departments available in our universities. Beside that, I want to keep producing more drawings. They make me happy.

3DTotal - Well its been a pleasure and many thanks for your time Tuna Ferit, I look forward to hearing from you about the developments of the Medical Illustration Department in your University!
