'Character Modelling for games in Mudbox: Part 2'
by
Michael Jensen

Welcome to the second of this five part Mudbox video tutorial series, which will cover the modelling of a character for games. The series is broken into five parts as shown below:

Part 1 - "Applying Colour to the Concept Art"
Part 2 - "Basic 3dsmax Techniques"
Part 3 - "Creating a Base Model"
Part 4 - "Sculpting the General Anatomy"
Part 5 - "Retopologising the Model"

This is the second video in my series of video lessons teaching people how to create a video game character. This video deals with teaching the basics of 3ds Max. It goes over several of the techniques I use to create my base model. If you are already familiar with the basic tools and techniques of 3ds max then I’d suggest skipping over this tutorial, because it is the most boring of the series. This is for those who don’t know what I’m doing in the later videos. I can’t cover every basic technique, so some will be left out. The video is about 26 minutes.

The video was encoded using XviD, so you'll need the XviD codec to be able to play the video, which you can get from this link.

Here are some stills from the video:
